What is Archive?

Arc keeps you clutter free by automatically archiving Explore Tabs after a set amount of time (default is 12 hours).

The Archive is a place to view and access those closed tabs — so you can restore anything you miss from the Archive.

The beauty of Archive is that the tabs haven’t disappeared! You can still access them and add them back to your sidebar. 😊

Can I change the timing of Archive?

Absolutely!

You can customize Archive’s timing to best suit your work flow.

We recommend trying our default setting for a week to see how it feels - then changing to better suit your workflow if needed. ✨

Why can’t I turn Archive off?

We think auto-Archive is an important, core feature of the Arc experience. It might seem a little scary at first and it’s natural to ask this!

During development, we found that most people who wanted to turn this feature off didn’t notice it when set to 30 days. And that many people who didn’t want it initially found utility in it later.

We’re asking everyone to give auto-Archive a chance - see how it feels, fits in your work flow, and (potentially 😉 ) how it changes the way you glide around the web.

If you still feel strongly that this feature needs an “off” setting after some browsing, reach out and let us know!
